Tackling…

Oh, there were plans. Many goals of things accomplished for today.

But that’s not how today went.

Proverbs 16:9 The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.

Not that we didn’t accomplish anything today, we did. We got a lot of school done. I paid the electricity bill. We went to the first ballet make-up class for this week. We went to the library. All three kids got bathed and in bed on time.

On the other hand… laundry? Dishes? How about sweeping or mopping or any manner of cleaning. Nope, nope, nope.

*Sigh*

When you choose to stay home all day, keep your kids home all day with you, school them, fix three meals and one snack a day, and especially when they are young… messes are bound to happen. Your house will look lived in, used, and sometimes… a bit like like a tornado ripped through, had babies and they all square danced through your living room.

(Or maybe that’s just my house.)

On the other hand.. did you notice where I said we got a lot of school done? We really did. Princess learned to borrow and regroup while subtracting and she totally got it. We pulled out and reviewed time today because we haven’t done that in a while and after a brief review, she did better than the last time we worked on it. Drama Queen learned to sound out and identify the color words she has been copying and learning for the last couple of weeks. She still needs to keep practicing, but she’s picking up on the reading quickly. She also did some beginning adding today - the kind where you have to count and number the individual groups and then write the total. In typical Drama Queen style, (by that I mean not following directions and jumping ahead) she kept skipping ahead and writing in the final answer before I made her go back and write in the equation. But goodness, she got it!

So hey, I may not have been able to take a shower or wash any dishes while Little Prince was sleeping…but I was sitting next to my two girls while they learned something new.

And I may not have been able to get any cleaning done after nap time…but I was spending time with my children as I took one to ballet and the other two to the library.

And I may not have had time (yet) to get any cleaning done after dinner…but all of my kids are bathed and in clean jammies and in bed and prayed over.

SO.

Tackling housework? Not so much.

Tackling special projects. Zip.

Taking care of my family. Priceless. ;)

THANK YOU! I so needed to hear that the housework can wait! I took my little one to the zoo with friends on the spur of the moment and the house cleaning didn’t happen. Lulu loved seeing the polar bear swim and the monkeys talk to each other. Instead of reflecting on what she experienced today, I was beating myself up for the house work that isn’t done. You are right…teaching your children is priceless. The laundry can wait.

Amen! With homeschooling 3 children and a newborn n the house my house looks like a trainwreck. I have to keep reminding myself that this is temporary and if I just get us all where we need to be with all our clothes on right we are doing pretty good! Thanks for the reminder that I am not alone!

man! i can also relate to the “why didn’t the weatherperson report this storm today?” in my house syndrome! with two very little ones, it is easy to get too annoyed too quickly at not being able to finish my agenda, but i also needed to remember that every time bear comes running up to me for a quick squeeze and a kiss, it, too, is much more precious than feeling good about a neat home. thank you for this reminder–timely!!

Late making my rounds. Awesome tackle! Stop by to check on the progress on my sunflowers.
