Do You Suppose Picasso Drove His Momma Crazy, Too?
I think Little Prince takes after his sister - he loves to draw. And he’s doing it on everything! Check out his hidden art gallery I found behind his door. Behind. His. Door. Sneaky little stinker.
And then when he ran out of room he started blatantly coloring out in the open:
Now, I’m not denying that this is a bad habit that we need to nip in the bud. And I’m doing my best, honest! But you know, as I was looking at his secret art gallery, I thought: Are those faces?!
Yes, in a distorted Picasso-esque way.. a sea of faces staring at me, one after another.
He’s two.
He can draw spiders, too. I know they’re spiders because he told me. And he’ll draw one for you if you ask.
I admit I feel a little bad about getting onto him when he loves it so much and he’s starting to show talent.
A little.
If I can just get him to draw only on drawing paper instead of the walls. And the chairs. And the floor. And the appliances. And…

LOL! My daughter did the same thing.
So did I when I was little. That’s a big part of the reason that we painted that big white board on the wall. My parents did something similar. They “gave” me a wall in my room where I could draw all I wanted. When I had filled it, they’d repaint it and I’d start again. That’s one of my favorite childhood memories.
I can’t help on the chairs and appliances though. The Mr Clean eraser works great though!

For those of you that DIDN’T raise Amber: she did the same thing and tried to blame it on her brother. Get him his own art tablet. Go cheap by making it yourself out of stapled together construction paper or copy paper. And you also remember how I got you to stop!

Actually, what I think I’d like to do is make the big wall in my dining room a chalkboard wall. That would be AWESOME!

Oh - and he HAS a lot of notepads. LOTS. And he fills in every single space on the pages. He will use a notepad until every page is full and wrinkled and dog-eared from the constant flipping of pages and the cover is barely still hanging on.

Amber, I would put up some huge butcher paper on a wall in his room (cover a very large area), and tell him that is his space to draw. Every time it gets filled up, take it down and put a new one up!

ROFL!! If I were little, I think all those faces would scare me whilst I was trying to go to bed at night (I use to have a blatant fear of the boogey man).
I like the butcher paper idea from the other commenters.. I think I’ll keep that in mind for my little one in the next few years! :-p
