Monday Meanderings & MPM

Okay, I have a busy week ahead of me and a busy day to boot! This week is VBS, which our church does in the evenings. Today being the first day there is a big kick-off event before-hand so we have to be there even earlier. I still want to try to get some school done this week and there’s still plenty of work to be done around my house!! So we’ll be busy, busy! But busy with good stuff.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

1.) Bible Study:

Morning devotions with my women’s devotional bible - reading straight through the bible.

Memorize our church’s memory verse for this week.

2.) “MUST Do” List:

  • Stick to my daily schedule (as God allows) for morning devotions, taking care of the home and home-schooling.
  • Vacation Bible School (I’m a helper in the 2nd grade class.)
  • Iron Big Daddy’s clothes for each day, as a labor of love.

3.) Taking Care of My Home:

This week I’ll just stick the daily chores that need to be done, unless something comes up that has to be taken care of and then I’ll do that, too.

4.) Training My Children:

Last week was a hard week - all three of my kids regressed into some serious disobedience issues. So continuing into this week we’ll be working on having an obedient and serving attitude. I’ll be keeping an eagle eye to spot disobedience quickly and deal with it immediately instead of allowing to escalate!

At the same time, we’ll be doing our regular schooling activities, as well as starting a new lapbook - A new thing we just tried last week that I really like a lot!

5.) Menu Plan Monday:

  • Monday: We’ll be eating at the VBS kickoff
  • Tuesday: Meatloaf, Steamed Squash,Beans, Cornbread
  • Wednesday: Super Nachos
  • Thursday: Spaghetti, Salad, Bread
  • Friday: Homemade Pizza
  • Saturday: Leftovers
  • Sunday: Breakfast for Dinner

Monday Meanderings & MPM

I know, I know, Monday is almost over. But for one more hour, it’s still Monday in Texas!

I’m just gonna do a quick run down of what I’ve got ahead this week, rather than divide it into my 5 categories.

  • Monday: Unpack! Fill an Etsy order. Prepare the lesson plans for this week. Supper: Homemade pizza; dessert: cheesecake.
  • Tuesday: Back to school. Chores. Re-schedule an appointment. Make several important phone calls. Supper: Family Casserole.
  • Wednesday: School, chores, bible study. Supper: Tacos
  • Thursday: School, chores. Tackle some paperwork. Supper: Smoked Sausage, Cabbage, Steamed Squash
  • Friday: School, chores. Go to the library. Pick up some paperwork for our Fundraiser. Supper: Chili and cornbread.
  • Saturday: Saturday chores and then enjoy some family time. Supper: Breakfast for dinner.

Of course, each day I need to get up on time, get my bible study in and get the day started on time. I also need to make sure I get myself to bed on time. Hopefully, after the kids go to bed and before I do, I’ll be able to work on my Homeschool Freesources. You know, normal busy mommy stuff!

Monday Meanderings is now hosted by Journey Momma at My Cup Runneth Over. Menu Plan Monday is hosted by Laura at I’m an Organizing Junkie.

Monday Meanderings and MPM

Boy, won’t this be the easiest Monday post ever? :P This week I’m at my mother’s, enjoying vacation, having a blast, loving the fact that I’m not cleaning my house, doing school, or any of the same ol’, same ol’. Somehow, helping cook and picking up your stuff at someone else’s house is just better.

We drove up Friday morning and that night we went to a local fireworks show. It turned out that my mom picked a really great spot to park because we were so close to the fireworks that we could feel every boom and the kids wanted to cover their ears at first. But after a minute they were totally into it and cheering each one. Saturday we went to Sears and took some family portraits and today we went to church with my mom. It’s been a busy weekend.

So what’s on the agenda for this week?

Tomorrow we’ll be going to the library and then just hanging out together after our very busy weekend. For lunch, I’m making pizza and for dinner we’ll have nachos, complete with the pico de gallo I made tonight. MM-MMM.

Tuesday we’re off to Sea World!! I’m so excited. Probably just as excited as the kids. :) Of course, we’ll eat lunch there, but we’ll put some beans in the crockpot while we’re gone so that we can have beans and rice and cornbread for supper when we get back.

I don’t think we’re going anywhere on Wednesday, but I’m hoping my brother and his wife will come over for dinner and a game night. They’re planning on leaving Thursday to move to Washington. Yeah. WASHINGTON. It’s quite a trip from Texas. I think we’ll have chicken quesadillas for supper while they’re here.

We could end up leaving here on Thursday if the kids are ready to go home, but I think we might stay until Friday and see my brother and his wife off on their journey. I have no idea if we’ll do anything special or just hang out. I’m okay with just hanging out until we’re ready to go home.

Once we do get home, of course, the unpacking will take over, but I plan on washing all our things before we leave. And soon after we get home I’ll need to process an Etsy order that came in while I was gone - yay!!

So that’s our fun-filled week… What’s on your plate?

Monday Meanderings & MPM

Good morning!! This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!

We had a pretty good Father’s Day yesterday. The kids made Big Daddy a Daddy Crown which read “King of the Castle.” Later we went to my mother-in-law’s house for some cooking on the grill, some swimming in the pool and some brownies and ice cream. After, the kids put on a “Happy Father’s Day” show while dancing and singing to some of their cds.

It’s shaping up to be a pretty fine week. My house is finally starting to resemble itself again. Today we need to do a little bit of cleaning in the kitchen, clean up all the bedrooms and catch up on some laundry. A busy day to be sure, but completely doable. It’ll be good to get caught up.

This week we’re also getting back to a full school schedule for our summer semester. We’ll be wrapping up all the loose ends to prepare for the new school year in August.

Here’s my plan of attack for this week:

mondaymeander2.jpg

1.) Bible Study:

Morning devotions with my women’s devotional bible - reading straight through.

Memorize our church’s memory verse for this week:

Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Matthew 23:12 (ESV)

2.) “MUST Do” List:

  • Stick to my daily schedule (as God allows) for morning devotions, taking care of the home and home-schooling.
  • Monday: Big House Cleaning, Grocery Shopping
  • Take care of the bills due this week.
  • Iron Big Daddy’s clothes for each day, as a labor of love.

3.) Taking Care of My Home:

Daily Chores and then focus on these areas for weekly chores.

  • Monday - Kitchen; Wash towels, tablecloths, etc.
  • Tuesday - Dining Room; The girls wash and put away their own laundry.
  • Wednesday - Living Room; Wash Momma’s laundry. Little Prince helps wash and put away his laundry.
  • Thursday - Master Bedroom; Wash all bed sheets, put them back on the beds.
  • Friday - Kids’ Rooms; Wash Big Daddy’s laundry & Whites
  • Saturday - Bathrooms; Clean Up Yard/Car

4.) Training My Children:

Tuesday through Thursday we’ll have a full load of school work. Princess: Bible Lesson, Math, Grammar, Spelling, Handwriting, Science, Health and Reading. Friday she’ll write a short story and illustrate it per Big Daddy’s request. Drama Queen: Bible Lesson, Reading, Math.

Together we’ll memorize the church’s memory verse for this week.

We rearranged the school area again, and I’m really lovin’ it. It’ll be fun to do school in there this week.

5.) Menu Plan Monday

  • Monday - Cereal; Sandwiches, Fruit, Chips; Apples & Peanut Butter; Tacos
  • Tuesday - Biscuits & Gravy & Turkey Bacon; Super Nachos; Veggies & Ranch; Porcupine Meatballs, Ranch Beans, Cornbread
  • Wednesday - Cereal & Fruit; Sandwiches, Chips, Carrot Sticks; Fruit & Yogurt; Italian Hamburger Helper with Italian Sausage, Steamed Veggies
  • Thursday - Eggs & Bacon; Tuna Salad, Crackers; Veggies & Ranch; Homemade Pizza & Salad
  • Friday - Cereal & Fruit; Sandwiches, Chips; Fruit, Cheese, Crackers; Rice, Beans, Cornbread
  • Saturday - Biscuits & Gravy; Mock Chicken Noodle Soup; Fruit, Granola Bars; Beef Enchiladas
  • Sunday - Cereal; Leftovers; Veggies & Ranch; Breakfast for Dinner

Monday Meanderings & MPM

mondaymeander2.jpg

1.) Bible Study:

Morning devotions with my women’s devotional bible - reading straight through.

Memorize our church’s memory verse for this week:

And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.

Matthew 22:39-40 (ESV

Memorize it together with last week’s verse:

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the great and first commandment.

Matthew 22:37-38 (ESV)

2.) “MUST Do” List:

  • Stick to my daily schedule (as God allows) for morning devotions, taking care of the home and home-schooling.
  • Swimming lessons each morning this week for Princess.

Hopefully Tuesday we’ll have a small impromptu field trip of sorts. Apparently there is some kind of “animal guy” coming to the library. Provided it all works out, we’ll head to the library with some friends after swimming lessons and then we’ll all go swimming at another friend’s house. Wednesday through Friday we’ll get back to a normal school day. We’ll work on Princess’ areas in math that she needs to work on, and Drama Queen will keep working on reading. We’ll also pick up science, health, history and bible study again.

Over the summer, our Sunday school classes take a summer break, so the girls won’t have memory verses to memorize. Instead, we’ll memorize the church memory verse for the week, together.

5.) Menu Plan Monday

  • Monday - Eggs & Bacon & Biscuits, Mac N Weenies, Orange Wedges, Fajitas
  • Tuesday - Cereal, Sandwiches, Carrot Sticks & Ranch, Spaghetti & Corn on the Cob & Salad

Monday Meanderings & MPM

Hello, all! Last week was weird - I’m eagerly embracing the new week ahead, that’s for sure!

Last week began with a family gathering and good visiting. But in the back of my mind, I was pre-occupied with a nagging question, one that I had been pondering for more than three weeks - I thought that perhaps we might be expecting our 4th child. But with only one faint positive result more than a week prior to that, and 3 negative ones since then, I was hesitant to embrace that possibility. And when I began having strong, low back pains and abdominal cramps over the weekend, I decided to call the doctor first thing Tuesday morning - which I did. By that point, other things began going on (read into that ladies) and a blood test first thing Wednesday morning came back negative. It had been a week and a half since the faint positive. We’ll never know whether I really was or wasn’t pregnant or if the whole thing was just a crazy fluke. (I certainly felt like I was.) Either is a possibility. Now, don’t worry about me, because I’m fine really. I had already accepted both possibilities. I was and am resting in the goodness of God no matter what comes my way. Still, Tuesday and Wednesday were a little bit of a blur. So were the two weeks before that, for that matter. Between the brain fog and the fatigue I was experiencing, my house was starting to suffer a little. So by the end of last week when I started feeling better, I rolled up my sleeves and got back to work. Evidenced by my lack of blogging last week, I’ve been preoccupied one way or another.

There is still more to do, though. A little more laundry to catch up on, some remaining hand dishes. Each of the bedrooms need a good picking up and refreshing. And pretty much everything that can be swept or mopped or wiped down needs it. Yup. That’s pretty much the state of my house right now.

We did finally test Princess last Friday as well, which I’ll report on later this week, as well as some other things and the promised graphing results. It’s my intent to work all day today and then sit down after the kids go to bed and dish out a week’s worth of posts. So if you’ll be patient and bear with me.. all your questions will be answered soon. ;) Well, all the questions to which I have answers, anyhow.

So without further ado, here’s the rest of Monday Meanderings: Read the rest of this entry »

Monday Meanderings (And MPM Too, Sort Of.)

My. Brain. Is. Fried. But I still have to have a plan of attack for this week. Otherwise, well, it won’t be pretty.

Last week was crazy-busy. I think this week will be more calm, which helps!

mondaymeander2.jpg

1.) Bible Study: I got my new devotional bible in the mail today - YAY!! It’s not organized by date, but it IS divided into days, Monday, Tuesday, etc. Each day has a section of scripture and a small devotional. I’m really looking forward to using this. I also need to pick my prayer journal back up again to keep me on top of praying diligently for others.

2.) “MUST Do” List:

  • Stick to my daily schedule (as God allows) for morning devotions, taking care of the home and home-schooling. Working on organizational challenge in between.
  • Call and pay bills on Tuesday, go to Post Office and mail Etsy order.
  • Princess’ 2nd grade assessment test (we had to reschedule from last Friday.)
  • Iron Big Daddy’s clothes for each day, as a labor of love.

3.) Taking Care of My Home:

Daily Chores and then focus on these areas for weekly chores. Our new laundry system is working out great! We’re definitely going to keep this up.

  • Monday - Kitchen; Wash towels, tablecloths, etc.
  • Tuesday - Dining Room; The girls wash and put away their own laundry.
  • Wednesday - Living Room; Wash Momma’s laundry. Little Prince helps wash and put away his laundry.
  • Thursday - Master Bedroom; Wash all bed sheets, put them back on the beds.
  • Friday - Kids’ Rooms; Wash Big Daddy’s laundry & Whites
  • Saturday - Bathrooms; Clean Up Yard/Car

4.) Training My Children:

  • Daily basics for Drama Queen.
  • More review for 2nd grade assessment test for Princess.
  • We plotted all our info for the bar graphs and made one of them. I’ll try to get those up for y’all sometime this week. ;)

5.) Menu Plan Monday

Did I mention I’m brain fried? I really don’t want to think about this. In fact, I’m not even sure I know when I’ll go to the store or what my budget will be. SO… what I’ll do is plan the dinners, cheap ones, and then later I’ll go from there. That sounds like a plan. Big Daddy is still on a chicken strike so I’ll figure that in, too. ;)

  • Monday - Rice, Beans, Cornbread (already have all those.)
  • Tuesday - Baked Potato Soup (already have everything for that.)
  • Wednesday - Mock Chicken Noodle Soup (a.k.a. no actual chicken, just chicken broth, pasta and vegetables, have this too.)
  • Thursday - Crockpot pork loin and veggies.
  • Friday - Homemade pizza & Salad
  • Saturday - Beef Enchiladas, Spanish Rice, Salad
  • Sunday - Breakfast for Dinner

MPM & Monday Meanderings

We had a good Mother’s Day yesterday. We had nice time of worship and visiting at church, watched the Indiana Jones movies, made a new movie, and chatted for a while with my mom on Skype. All in all it was a good day. :)

This week we’ll continue preparing Princess for her test next week. She’s been doing really well, and I’m feeling much more relaxed about her taking the test. Also, our seeds we planted have started coming up (onions and cucumbers), so now I’ve really got to be on the ball about taking care of them, and hopefully this week we’ll find time to get some new seeds planted. Perhaps lettuce and cantaloupe? Plus, we’ll keep working on the hotspots in the kids rooms for Laura’s Organizing Round-up. Other than that, I really don’t think there’s anything on the schedule. No places to go, no times to be somewhere, no deadlines. Really?? Oh how nice!

  • Saturday - Wash Whites; Kids’ Bathroom; Clean Up Yard/Car

4.) Training My Children:

Continue working on math & language arts in preparation for next week’s assessment test. We also recently established a new system for cleaning up their rooms and we’ll be working to establish that as routine. This week Drama Queen gets to learn how to use the washing machine to wash her own clothes! She’s excited, for now. We’ll see how long that lasts. :)

5.) Menu Plan Monday

mpm121.jpg

I’m going to take it easy again this week. My challenge this week: Hubby needs a break from chicken (he can barely tolerate it as it is) so I’m going to plan another week without any chicken. No chicken. None. Yikes.

  • Monday - Taco Salad
  • Tuesday - Meatball Subs
  • Wednesday - Grilled Cheese and chicken noodle soup
  • Thursday - Eating out
  • Friday - Cheese Enchiladas
  • Saturday -Chili & Cornbread
  • Sunday - Hamburgers with my family

MPM & Monday Meanderings

Wow, last week was kind of weird, I think. It feels odd, like it went by in a blur and took forever at the same time. For one thing, my car is down again; this time it needs a new water pump. We’ve had to juggle the other car around to get some things done. Also, I think we’ve been passing around a little stomach bug. Today I’ve laid around and slept and watched movies. All. Day. Long. Well, I fed my family. But that’s about it. But the new week waits for no man. Or woman. Tomorrow is going to come and I am going to need a game plan. So let’s make one, shall we?

mondaymeander2.jpg

1.) Bible Study: Morning devotions using this site to study my bible chronologically.

2.) “MUST Do” List:

  • Stick to my daily schedule (as God allows) for morning devotions, taking care of the home and home-schooling
  • Iron Big Daddy’s clothes for each day, as a labor of love.

3.) Taking Care of My Home:

Daily Chores and then focus on these areas for weekly chores:

  • Monday - Kitchen; Wash Lights
  • Tuesday - Dining Room; Wash Darks
  • Wednesday - Living Room; Wash Towels & Little Prince’s Bedding
  • Thursday - Master Bedroom & Bathroom; Wash Lights & Master Bedding
  • Friday - Kids’ Rooms; Wash Darks & Girls’ Bedding
  • Saturday - Wash Whites; Kids’ Bathroom; Clean Up Yard/Car

4.) Training My Children:

Starting this week, for the next three weeks, we’re going to be focusing mainly on Math and Language Arts. In addition to testing at Sylvan near the end of May, a homeschooling friend of mine is going to include Princess on some placement test wile she tests her son. Monday she’ll do a spelling placement test. Next week it will be math. We’re going to have all the bases covered for making Big Daddy happy.

5.) Menu Plan Monday

mpm121.jpg

This week I’m just planning the suppers, we’ll probably have sandwiches and leftovers for lunch.

  • Monday - Calzones
  • Tuesday - Family Casserole
  • Wednesday - Meatloaf
  • Thursday - Something in the crockpot
  • Friday - Taco Soup
  • Saturday - Hamburgers
  • Sunday - Enchiladas
