Thankful Thursday - Look How Far God Has Brought Me

I’ve been contemplating how far I have come in the last two years. Why the last two years? It was two years ago this summer that I was sitting in a ladies bible study thinking about the impending birth of my 3rd child and wondering just in the world how I was going to handle it all. It was in that same bible study that I found my accountability partner that I am meeting with. Looking back, I can say “Yeah, I still have a long way to go, but look how far God has brought me!”

Sometimes I feel as if I’m swimming in circles. I feel like I am struggling through the same issues over and over again and I wonder if I am getting anywhere. It might feel as though I could make a master prayer list and just make a hundred photocopies for the next hundred weeks to come, but as I sat and contemplated that thought this week, I realized that the subject areas might be the same but the prayer requests have evolved. I have evolved. I am further down (or up?) the same stream, but I am not in the same spot.

I don’t say this to pat myself on the back. I haven’t gotten this far on my own. I give all the credit to God. “Look how far GOD has brought me! God is so GOOD!”

Thankful Thursday: Psalm 27

Psalm 27 (ESV)

The LORD Is My Light and My Salvation
Of David.

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evildoers assail me
to eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
it is they who stumble and fall.

3 Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet I will be confident.

4 One thing have I asked of the LORD,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to inquire in his temple.

5 For he will hide me in his shelter
in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
he will lift me high upon a rock.

6 And now my head shall be lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the LORD.

7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud;
be gracious to me and answer me!

8 You have said, “Seek my face.”
My heart says to you,
“Your face, LORD, do I seek.”

9 Hide not your face from me.
Turn not your servant away in anger,
O you who have been my help.
Cast me not off; forsake me not,
O God of my salvation!

10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me,
but the LORD will take me in.

11 Teach me your way, O LORD,
and lead me on a level path
because of my enemies.

12 Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
for false witnesses have risen against me,
and they breathe out violence.

13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living!

14 Wait for the LORD;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the LORD!

I am thankful that with God, I do not need to be afraid.

I am thankful that evildoers will not prevail (not in the end anyway) and that God wins.

I am thankful that I can be confident for God is with me.

I am thankful that I can seek God’s presence, and find it, and dwell in Him.

I am thankful that God is a good God.

I am thankful that God will provide shelter and protection. I am thankful that I can feel safe in God.

I am thankful that I am able to praise God, and sing and shout praises to His name!

I am thankful that God is worthy of praise!

I am thankful that God hears me when I cry out to Him, and I am thankful that he answers.

I am thankful that God has called me to Himself, so that my heart may respond, “Lord, your face do I seek.”

I am thankful that God does not hide from, nor forsake his children. I am thankful that He is faithful.

I am thankful that God teaches me. I am thankful that His ways are better and will lead us down the right paths.

I am thankful that God will not abandon me nor give up on me, but that He will continue the work that He has began in me.

I am thankful that I can look upon His goodness now, even as I look forward to fully understanding His goodness when I meet Him face-to-face.

I am thankful that I can wait on God, knowing that He is trustworthy and will do as He says.

I am thankful that I can have courage in the here and now, with God by my side, until the day comes that He calls me from this earth or returns in all His radiant glory!!

Thankful Thursday is here.

Be blessed!

Thirteen Things I am Thankful For

ttransom.gif

It seems that Thursday Thirteen is coming to an end. There’s a possibility of it coming back or of some people still continuing to do it, but for the most part this is the last one. I actually planned on doing a first ever for me Thankful Thursday theme today, but in light of this news I thought I would combine the two and do a Thankful Thursday Thirteen. (There I go breaking the rules again.) ;)

Since I just recently posted 3 things I am thankful for and since that included God, my family, and my church…I’ll just pick up where that list left off.

1.) I am thankful for my little bible. It’s the perfect size to carry around with me everywhere I go and the cover is beautiful.

2.) I am thankful for a so-far flu-less flu season. (Which is compliments of God’s protection only- no flu shots for us this year.)

3.) I am thankful for shelter over my head and good landlords, forgiving landlords.

4.) I am thankful for warmer weather. Read the rest of this entry »
